Mr. Guerena began his career with Ernst & Young in Los Angeles and subsequently joined the international insurance brokerage firm of Bayly, Martin & Fay, Inc. serving as corporate treasurer.  He left that position to start his own accounting practice that grew to a four partner, medium-sized local firm. He remained the managing partner of that firm from its inception until 1995 when he merged his practice with Good Swartz Brown & Berns LLP.

 

His many years of experience in accounting, taxation and business advisory services benefit clients from several industries, including construction, manufacturing, insurance, health care and non-profit organizations.  A trusted resource for his clients, Mr. Guerena frequently assists clients on mergers, acquisitions, sales and perpetuation plans, and compensation and incentive plans.

 

Mr. Guerena received his undergraduate degree in accounting from Loyola University of Los Angeles and his Masters of Business Administration degree in finance from the University of Southern California.

 

An active community volunteer, Mr. Guerena currently serves as a member of the Boards of Directors of QueensCare (Chairman), QueensCare Family Clinics (Treasurer), St. Anne’s Home (Finance Committee Chairman) and The Tidings, Inc., (President of the Board).  He is a former President of the Loyola Marymount University Alumni Association and remains active as a member of the University's Gift Planning Council and of its School of Accounting Advisory Board.

 

Mr. Guerena is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Institute of Management Accountants, the California Society of Certified Public Accountants, and the Turnaround Management Association.  He served as Chairman of the Insurance Industry Committee of the Los Angeles Chapter of the California Society of Certified Public Accountants.
